Volunteers
Tuam Cancer Care group
is a non-profit, charitable organization that relies on the work
of almost 40 volunteers to provide support and information to people
with a cancer diagnosis and their families in their Centre in Tuam.
- We ask our volunteers to be available for two
sessions of duty per month and to attend a monthly volunteer support
group.
- We provide initial training in listening skills,
on going support and ensure that all volunteersa are rostered
with a more experienced volunteer whenever they are on duty in
the Centre.
- Volunteers can also help out with workshops, public
education talks, support groups and administration work needed
to keep the Centre working efficiently.
- We are particularly interested in hearing from
you if you had a cancer diagnosis or have cared for or lost a
loved one who had cancer. In these cases, however, we ask that
you should be two years post treatment or post bereavement befor
you get involved in volunteering.
- The Centre is committed to providing support for
men with a cancer diagnosis also, so are actively looking for
male volunteers.
Do you think you would be interested in helping
out with the work we do in Tuam Cancer
Care Centre ? If so, please phone or
email the Centre for more information or for an application form
to apply to become a volunteer with us. |
